Nvidia’s headquarters in Santa Clara, California, embodies the company’s technological prowess and innovative spirit. The design of the two buildings, Endeavor and Voyager, was optimized using Nvidia’s own chips to simulate lighting and space dynamics. The triangular motifs throughout the architecture pay homage to the company’s roots in 3D graphics, and every element of the space fosters collaboration and efficiency. The CEO, Jensen Huang, played a key role in shaping the design to ensure it reflected Nvidia’s goals and values.
The open-office layout encourages connections among the 5,000 employees working there. With 19 staircases and few elevators, movement within the office is designed to be seamless, fostering casual interactions that are key to innovation. The unique acoustical design and triangular skylights ensure both visual and acoustic comfort, while specialized labs and plant walls balance technology with nature, creating a harmonious work environment.
Nvidia used its own chips to simulate how daylight would pass through the buildings’ skylights, resulting in a space that feels almost identical to the initial visualizations. With more than 500 skylights and 42,000 square feet of lab space, the headquarters is a testament to the company’s forward-thinking approach. As Nvidia looks to the future, it plans to incorporate AI into the design of potential new spaces, pushing the boundaries of what an office can be.
