The project by MAD Architects transforms a train station into a cultural hub blending history and nature.

The MAD Architects-designed Jing train station redefines traditional transportation hubs, incorporating human-centered elements into a structure meant to blend seamlessly with its historical and natural surroundings.

The old train station building is preserved at the heart of the new design, creating a dialogue between history and modernity. With much of the new station built underground, the above-ground area is transformed into a green space, extending the adjacent park and offering a welcoming atmosphere for visitors.

Natural light, trees, and open spaces are integrated into the underground areas, allowing passengers to feel connected to nature despite being inside a busy transit hub. The design aims to make the station feel more like a cultural destination than a traditional train station, combining both old and new architectural elements.

MAD Architects intended the station to evoke a sense of time travel, with its design focusing on movement, history, and the future. The station serves as a reminder of the past while offering a functional and inspiring public space for modern commuters and the local community.
